Second reaches out to serve in lots of ways. "Within the walls," we use our facilities to advance our own outreach, and to work with partners that we consider "core" partners. "Beyond the walls," we also reach out with hands-on involvement, leadership, and financial support. And since our congregation is an active part of "the larger church" of the Presbyterian Church (USA), we join their efforts to do what we cannot do by ourselves.

Within the Walls - means using our facilities to provide ministry to the community and our ministry partners. Important outreach programs such as the Kilgore Counseling Center, the Weekday School, Parent's Day Out, and Smiley Camp all are located within our walls. Our church facility also provides a safe meeting place for such groups as Alcoholics Anonymous, the Girl Scouts and XXXXX.

Beyond the Walls - We work in the Louisville community, putting in "hours" and providing funding for our partners like The Cabbage Patch Settlement House , Camp Cedar Ridge , United Crescent Hill Ministries , the Presbyterian Community Center , Wayside Christian Mission , Louisville Presbyterian Theological Seminary , The Healing Place , and Bellewood Children's Home - among others. Other "hands-on" service projects and events are important, too! Youth and adults alike participate annually in such local projects as Neighbors Helping Neighbors, Project Warm, the Hunger Walk, and Habitat for Humanity. We also sponsor families with Kentucky Refugee Ministries.

Joining with the Larger Church - The Presbyterian Church (USA) has more opportunities in national and global missions than we could ever do. We support missionaries in Central Asia, Taiwan, Nicaragua and Argentina. Adult and youth mission trips have gone to Venezuela, Bosnia, Reynosa, Mexico, and New Orleans. Through our contributions to Mid-Kentucky Presbytery, we join forces with other churches in supporting efforts to eradicate illiteracy, sickness and poverty.

Mid-Kentucky Presbytery's new campaign, Joining Hearts and Hands - A Campaign to Renew the Church for Mission , gives us the opportunity to respond as members of the body of Christ and make a profound difference. Through an exciting new initiative called Joining Hearts & Hands, we can join together in active discipleship and spread the Good News of the gospel down the street and around the world.
