"Worship" means more than an hour a week in a sanctuary. At Second, we connect to Christ's grace when we come together so that we can share that grace in all our connections during the week. - An hour for praise reminds us of whose we are from baptism to here-and now.
- An hour of prayer opens our hearts to a "faithful Savior" who forgives and sustains and strengths us.
- An hour of proclamation teaches us Christ's direction and inspires us to walk whereever he leads.
Worship at Second connects us together in grace, and connects each of us to real life with Christ every day. 8:30 a.m. in the Chapel - 11:00 a.m. in the Sanctuary Our worship is "traditional," but always active. We are "Presbyterian and Reformed," and always re-forming worship every week to the season of the Christian year and to the text assigned for the day. Youth and Families Contemporary Worship - 2nd Sundays, 5:00 p.m. monthly - Worship with a variety of experiences and styles. Youth are central in leadeship and participitation. Children in Worship We want the sanctuary to be a place where children know they belong and worship with their other "spiritual parents." Children receive their own Order of Worship on a clipboard, a learning sheet each week so that parents can worship with and teach their children at the same time. Children help lead us by reading scripture, gathering offering, greeting, and singing in our children's choirs. And there is always a Lesson for just for Children. Childcare is provided for children ages birth through 5 years old at the 8:30 a.m., and for children ages birth through 3 years old at the 11:00 a.m. worship service. Children's Sacred Space, 11:00 a.m. worship. Two classes of age-appropriate, active instruction lead children in the language, movement and meaning of our Reformed tradition. Children ages 3–Kinder attend the first part of worship with their families, then are led to special worship centers for a hands-on experience and the Bible story. 3's & 4's - Room 151 - Kindergarten – Room 152 Children with Special Needs One-on-one caring and assistance is provided to children with special learning needs so that they and their families may participate fully in worship and learning spaces.
