Facilities Attendant

Scope & Purpose

The Facilities Attendant at Second Presbyterian Church is a member of the church’s staff. The Facilities Attendant provides oversight of the Second Presbyterian Church facility and grounds when in use by church members and guests after regular church office hours.

Qualifications

  1. High school diploma or higher education degree
  2. Principles and practices for providing quality customer service with facility users including approachability, effective listening and verbal communication skills, and a congenial and positive disposition
  3. Competency working independently in a trustworthy and responsible manner
  4. Decision making, problem solving aptitude, time management/punctuality, organization, and good written communication skills
  5. Demonstration of collaboration and teamwork and ability to take direction
  6. Ability and willingness to learn and support church policies and procedures
  7. Familiarity with safety procedures and protocols, and emergency equipment
  8. Capacity to perform moderate physical tasks related to the setting up and taking down of events

Responsibilities

The Facilities Attendant ensures that the church facility and grounds are welcoming, safe, clean, and functional to all facility users after regular church office hours. The Facilities Attendant is accountable for the orderly and efficient operation of the facility when in use by church members and guests during this time.

  1. Utilize knowledge of facility layout and grounds to ensure the facility and grounds are clean, organized, and safe for facility users. Training specific to Second Presbyterian Church provided.
  2. Manage security protocols for opening and closing the facility when in use after regular church office hours. Training specific to Second Presbyterian Church provided.
  3. Greet and welcome facility users. Oversee the facility user sign-in.
  4. Check with facility user point of contact to ensure setup meets expectations. Address issues or concerns, and manage any additional arrangements and/or changes needed. Answer questions and provide information regarding the facility and policies.
  5. Remain accessible to facility users throughout their time using the facility and provide high quality customer service. Respond promptly and professionally to unanticipated building needs and programmatic physical space needs.
  6. Conduct hourly security rounds of the facility and grounds. Monitor facility use, promote safety, ensure compliance with church policies and procedures, and address any violations or unsafe behavior.
  7. Identify and document maintenance needs, safety issues, or incidents to the Director of Facilities. Provide weekly report on facility usage to the Director of Facilities.
  8. Implement emergency procedures, protocols, and equipment use as needed in the event of an emergency or safety issue. Training specific to Second Presbyterian Church provided.
  9. Perform as needed physical tasks such as arranging tables and chairs, ensuring equipment is in place according to event layouts, and restoring the facility to its original state after an event as needed.
  10. Other duties as assigned.

Work Schedule

The position is part-time up to 25 hours per week in the evenings and occasionally on the weekends Sunday through Saturday. Weekly work schedule is arranged by the Director of Facilities based upon facility reservations starting at 4:00 PM.

Accountability

The Facilities Attendant reports to the Director of Facilities. The position is accountable to the Session through the Personnel Committee. The Facilities Attendant shall follow the Employee Handbook, and the Child, Youth, and Vulnerable Adult Policy and Procedure Manual.
